In The Night - All The Wrong Reasons

I started working on this song over winter break of 2012 and it's become a unique piece that highlights my career as a musician. It features trumpet, tuba, mandolin, piano, and guitar - definitely not the average indie-rock song.

I urge you all to listen to it!

The lyrics go as follows:

All your words they're -
imprisoned in your mind
full sentences behind bars, now echoing inside

But you can't speak, they're leaving you behind
Stuck staring at the stars, intoxicated by the night

Is it the pencil that forces you to work?
Or the paper that displays your "pseudo-worth"?
These eighth notes are mausoleums for a mind
Late, writing in meter but you're still out of time

Your trumpet sounds but you've grown accustomed to its shout
to wake up and repeat and repeat
Can't you see that in me,
there's a part deep inside longing for blue skies?

Entertainers give up life for
a darkness underneath the spotlight stage
Picture perfect - if you say so,
Imperfections are lost so we're all the same

Hear their voices and their dreams too
Stuck behind bars, forever forgotten
Their art perfected, their art imprisoned
their only crime was being timeless

These little talks as the rain falls down
The lonely doll in the lost and found
Have we grown up too fast, are we alright?
Why is it that you cry in the night?

These little flaws that you ignore
turn into waves that crash on shore
oh these, memories that bring in light
let the past sink into night.

(I don't want to hear your voice in my head anymore)
(I don't want to dream about this life anymore)

These little talks as the rain falls down
The lonely doll in the lost and found
Have we grown up too fast, are we alright?
Why is it that you cry in the night?

These little flaws that you ignore
turn into waves that crash on shore
oh these, memories that bring in light
let the past sink into night.
